As a home-based, 501(c)(3) animal rescue group, the vast majority of our support comes from the community we serve.Whenever we take in a cat that needs our help, medical care, supplies and food can add up quickly if the cat has a medical problem.
Under state law, we must provide vet care for sick or injured animals and when you multiply just the food requirements of the animals in our care, you can begin to understand the scope of the problem we face every day.
When you calculate the number of animals we placed for adoption in 2006, almost 800 of them, our need for community support cannot be understated.
We know that you work hard for the money you earn and we understand that there are many worthy causes that deserve your support.
All we ask is that if you think our work is important, you consider supporting our efforts with one of the many ways you can support our efforts.

Join Cat Rescue as a Volunteer!
If you love cats and would like to help us, we would love to have you as a member of Cat Rescue, Inc!
You can participate in a number of different ways such as helping us care for the cats we have in the PETsMART adoption center on weekday mornings or evenings, helping us care for the cats at our sanctuary in Chesapeake or assisting our foster caregivers in their homes with day-to-day things such as socializing, cleaning or taking a cat to a vet appointment.
As a home-based rescue group, the number of animals we can help depends upon how many foster homes we have in our network and how many animals each one can provide proper care for-we do not want to overload our members and we want the best for each of our cats.
If you have ever thought about helping the cause of homeless animals, please consider joing Cat Rescue, Inc.

Speak Up for the Animals!
It never ceases to amaze those of us in the animal welfare community how many people remain silent about animal-related issues until something directly affects them.
As a member of the community, you have the power to influence changes in how our state and local government deals with issues regarding companion animals.
You can call or write your state representatives or city council members and ask for the things that your local animal control agency needs such as new equipment, better pay for Animal Control Officers as well as better laws designed to protect animals from cruel treatment, overbreeding or irresponsible pet owners allowing thier pets to become a nusiance.
Another very important thing you can do is, report instances of animal cruelty, nusiance animals or suspected illegal activity such as dog fighting to local authorities or to the Hampton Roads CrimeLine.
Let's all help law enforcement by providing them with the information they need to hold those who mistreat animals accountable for their actions.
Our four-legged friends deserve our help!
